    The church was started by the Augustinian Fr. Antonio Estavillo in 1694. It was completed in 1710 and rededicated in 1896, just three years before the expulsion of Spanish rule in the country

    dis chucrh is really great! i already went to this church, it was our fieldtrip at that time, we went in ilocos norte and in ilocos sur, we visit a lot of beautiful places there, i'm sure you'l hav a great time when you go here,i promise! thre are many historical places there, that you should'nt miss to go to, hope you will visit here in the phillipines..cause we have a lot of beautiful places.promise.

    I was baptized in this church in 1939, a couple of years before the Japanese occupied the Philippines. At the back of this church is Paoay North Institute where I finished my secondary education in 1955. Paoay has a great history. It is also the place where the late hero Don Valentin Diaz was born. He was one of the founders of the Katipunan and one of the signatories of the Pact of Biaknabato that ended the Philippine revolution against United States at the end of the 19th century.
